Valkenberg Hospital Revitalisation - Post Acute Male Unit - Ground Floor Plan. This is currently the biggest project in the company at the moment needing a lot of resources, ie. people to do drawings. Its a Joint Venture and in total consists of 21 buildings. It is also a heritage site and is located in Stellenbosch. It is a hospital for mentally challenged people so a lot has to be considered and is still in its intial stages. I was given a sketch (below) of one of the buildings - Post Acute Male - and had to produce the above drawing for Draft Stage 2 presentation. Another great experience and exposure.

House Casa Bella Council Submission - This is one project which I was fully hands-on with and got to use the skills I had learnt in First Year. Right from the stages of meausuring exisiting drawings and drawing them up right through to council submission and finally; approval. It is situated in Kuilsriver and the client wanted extentions made to two bedrooms and the lounge with a budget of R250,000.

The main issue here was that the roof had to change and the streetscape could not be too drastic and different to the neibouring houses according to the body corporate. It was fun and challenging in the sense that technical resolutions had to be made and I had to run around and ask a lot of questions. I was greatly assisted by two of my fellow colleauges, Sanele and Westley for the detailing, filling in of the complicated council forms and how to produce Council and Tender drawings. Construction is expected to start in October 2011

ACSA Data Recovery Centre - Hoarding Layout. Here I had to draw up a hoarding layout for the construction that was going to happen at the airport where they were going to take up some of the parking bays on the Ground Floor to construct the Data Recovery Centre. So I basically had to edit existing drawings and make a few changes to suit construction and pedestrian usage at the Cape Town airport

ACSA Joint and Cap Details - In the airport parking lot; the expansion joints of the above floors were leaking so this would be a problem if water seeped through into the new Data Recovery Centre, so some kind of cover needed to be designed for this purpose. With the aid of an Architect and a Junior Technologist we came up with a solution. This was stage 5 and construction was soon to start.

Proposal layout 3 - Stage 1. Unfortunately due to lack of funds this project never continued.

Internal Sectional Elevations

This is a revamp to an apartment in High Cape, Upper Gardens in Cape Town. The main idea is to change the small, clustered interior layout to a more user-friendly and spacious space with adequate storage. Since its quite a small and fun project I was given the opportunity to handle and work on it fully.

This was the first tutorial / exercise that I did to learn "Revit Architecture 2011" which basically teaches you the basics of Revit by drawing up a simple building from the foundations right through to the roof, including sections, elevations, schedules and how to set up a page.
